Kent Lauer

Kent Lauer has been working with glass for more than 30 years. What started as a fascination with glass soon became a career. Kent learned to bevel early on, and was determined to find out everything he could about pushing the limits of bevelled glass. His work has since been seen worldwide, in important homes and historic buildings. Living in Southern California has given him many chances to work on glass for films and commercials, not to mention celebrities. He has been teaching bevelling and dichroic glass sculpture at glass shows and privately for over 25 years.

Kent has written articles for Glass Craftsman magazine and for Glass Patterns Quarterly.

Join Master Cold Working artist Kent Lauer for this brand new one-day class. You'll make beautiful, faceted Dichroic glass pendants using amazing patterned dichroic glass by Profusion Studio, and learn awesome cold working techniques at the same time. This exciting hands-on class will cover all aspects of creating these breathtaking pendants, from cutting 1/2" thick glass with a diamond ring saw, to laminating and beveling. A thin layer of patterned Dichroic glass will be laminated between two layers of beautiful Starphire glass, then ground and polished into an incredible jewel. Not only will the student learn to make the dichroic pendants in this intensive class, at the same time they are learning the basics of cold working and beveling. It's really like three classes in one. No glass cutting experience required. Class size is limited to ensure individual attention, and each student will have full time access to a 12" diamond lap grinding machine. Students will have the opportunity to make several pendants, which in value, pay for the class, not counting the knowledge they will take away from an incredible day. The students will have the option of affixing bails to the pendants the day of the class, or taking them home to wire wrap them, or set them in precious metal clay, or have them set in silver. This is the first time this class will be taught in Australia.   Please sign up early for this very popular class.

PENDANT CLASS

Join Master Beveller Kent Lauer for this spectacular one-day class. You'll make beautiful, faceted dichroic glass jewels that can later be transformed into beautiful pieces of jewellery. You will also learn incredible cold working techniques. This exciting hands-on class will cover all aspects of creating these breathtaking pendants; from cutting 1/2" thick glass with a diamond ring saw, to laminating and bevelling. A thin layer of dichroic glass will be laminated between two layers of beautiful Starfire glass, then ground and polished into an incredible jewel.  You will then have the option to adhere a jewellery bail onto your finished piece.

Not only will the student learn to make the dichroic pendants in this intensive class, at the same time they are learning the basics of cold working and bevelling--like three classes in one! No glass cutting experience required. Class size is limited to ensure individual attention, and each student will have full-time access to a 12" diamond lap-grinding machine. Students will have the opportunity to make 3-4 pieces, which in value, pay for the class. SCULPTURE CLASS

You can also join Kent in this class where you'll create a beautiful faceted dichroic glass sculpture! This very-hands-on class will cover all aspects of creating this piece; from cutting 3/4" glass with a diamond ring saw, to laminating and bevelling. A thin layer of dichroic glass will be laminated between two pieces of Starfire glass, then ground and polished to perfection. No glass cutting experience required. Class size is limited to six students to ensure everyone gets individual instruction. Each student will also have full-time access to a 12" horizontal lap machine.  Due to the high level of interest and limited size, this class will fill quickly so don't wait, sign-up today!
